Purdue takes home 25 area advertising awards

Individuals, departments and organizations at Purdue claimed 25 total awards Tuesday evening during the American Advertising Federation of North Central Indiana's annual ADDY Awards presentation.

Presented in the Purdue Memorial Union Ballrooms, the awards honored creative excellence in advertising efforts during 2011. Overall, individuals, departments and organizations at Purdue won 14 silver and six gold awards.

The Silver Medal Award for lifetime achievement went to Teri Lucie Thompson, Purdue's vice president for marketing and media, for her work to further the industry's standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. Tina Parker, manager of Boiler Television, won the Allison Beggs Presidential Cup Award, which is awarded to the federation member who contributed the most to the organization in the previous year.

The local ADDY award winners became eligible for consideration in the advertising federation's District 6 competition, which encompasses entries from Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. Winners will be announced in March. The district winners will go on to compete at the national level later this year.

Silver awards:

* Hall of Music Productions for its 2011 Jay Cooperider Memorial 5k poster.
* Purdue Alumni Association for its November/December 2011 alumnus feature article on pages 20 to 25.
* Purdue Alumni Association for its November/December 2011 alumnus feature article on pages 32 to 35.
* Purdue Marketing and Media for its admissions viewbook.
* Purdue Marketing and Media for its Libraries Fall 2011 VOLUMe.
* Purdue Marketing and Media for its "Stickworks" poster.

* The Best of Show (print) Award went to Purdue Alumni Association for its Boilermaker Ball event invitation.
